Expectations Run High For Upcoming 2NE1 Album ‘CRUSH’ And CL-Written Tracks

All across the globe, fans of YG Entertainment’s popular girl group 2NE1 are excited for the release of CRUSH, the group’s long-awaited second full-length album.
The agency announced February 24 as the official release day for the new album project, and followers of the group can expect to be pleasantly surprised with the track selections.
According to a post on the company’s official blog, CRUSH will contain ten brand new songs, including three that were reportedly written and composed by 2NE1 leader CL and will serve as the focal point for the new album.
YG founder and lead producer Yang Hyun Sukmentioned his excitement over this new step in CL’s career, saying that as her first attempt in that part of the music-making process, the resulting songs are “too good to be true.”
Yang explained, “You are the ones to judge the quality of her music. But when I first listened to CL’s very own song, the one word that described my feeling was “surprised.” Which is only natural, because I have known CL for 8 years and I never expected her to produce a song like this, and the song was too good to be her very first one.”
He also shared that it is a “positive sign for CL to produce her own single album” and that fans should be on the lookout for it by the end of the year.
Aside from the CL-written tracks, the remaining seven will also include one track that some die-hard fans may have already heard before – a previously released Japanese single that has been translated into Korean. Initial speculation points to 2012′s “Scream,” 2NE1′s first original Japanese-language song.
All ten songs that will appear on CRUSH later this month were carefully selected by the group members and Yang as if they were all to be used as title tracks.
While the lead single has yet to be confirmed, YG Entertainment has announced that the music video will have the highest budget of any 2NE1 project to date at nearly half a million dollars.
Since their debut in 2009, the four-member group has released thirteen singles along with one studio album (2010′s To Anyone) and two EPs.
CRUSH is slated for release on February 24 at 12am midnight KST.
